A fitness mat is recommended to cushion the joints when doing Pilates on a hard floor. Using a mat will improve comfort and reduce the risk of joints becoming tired or unnecessary strain being placed on them. The mats are made from a high performance foam material to guarantee an effective, long lasting exercise surface which is also lightweight enough to carry around with little effort. The foam material has a closed cell structure, which means that although it is foam it is non-absorbent and easily cleaned with a cloth, making it the perfect material for exercise equipment.
